  December 27, 2008: PERFECT 10 For Coach Erika

Coach Erika married Tyrick in a beautiful church ceremony on Saturday December 27th, 2008.  The wedding reception was the only thing to top the ceremony on a weather perfect day, the wedding reception. We all congratulate the new couple, and wish them both happiness, health and prosperity in the many years that lie ahead.

  December 7, 2008: PERFECT 10 for RGA's Abigail Richardson at the Pinkystone Invitational

The Rochester Gymnastics Academy started off the new season the way they finished the 2008 season.  If the Level 7's, and Level 5's winning the team competition was not enough, then how does our FIRST level 4 girl scoring a 10.0 on the vault sound.  For the first time, the RGA entered four level 4 girls into the competition, and the results were phenomenal.  Abigail Richardson, Cameron Fletcher and Katherine Hill placed 1st, 2nd and 4th respectively, with Abigail scoring a perfect 10 on Vault.  Karissa Bosh made up the 4th girl in the team. 


At level 10, Taline Lahcanski won the AA, with Becca Ellis placing 2nd and Oni Timothy placing 5th.

At level 7, All 5 girls won the top 5 places with Natalie Gurnett, Brenna Fosco, Bailey Stehler,  Skylar DiBerardinis and Hannah Gooding placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.

The Level 5 team took the AA team title by more than 5 points with Sydney Sarkis, Mallory Puscheck, Mikaela Stemen, Kristin Lang, Chloe Sarkis, Bridget Rossi and Lindsey Rossi placing 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th respectively.  Jenna Gooding, Annika Haber and Tara Beisheim made up the winning Team

  Eddie Signs Full Scholarship with Stanford University
After Weeks of Deliberation and torment, Eddie finally accepted the full scholarship offered by Stanford University.  Eddie will be joining the Stanford Men's Gymnastics Team after accepting a full 5 year scholarship over the weekend. He had received full scholarship offers from Michigan University, Penn State University, Cal Berkeley University and Minnesota University.   CONGRATULATIONS from all of us at RGA
10 November, 2008 - RGA Gymnasts invited to US Olympic Training Center
Kevin Penev – Placed 1st at the Future Stars Testing in the 8-9 year old division. He has been recognized as a member of the Regional Developmental National Team
Matthew Blahyj – Placed 2nd at the Future Stars Testing in the 10 year old division. He has qualified to attend the Future Stars National Competition to be held in the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO
Tori Beisheim – Qualified in the top 25 in the country for the TOPS Testing.  She has been invited to a training camp at the National Training center in Houston, TX
20 August, 2008 - Tori and Brenna qualify to the National TOPS Test

Tori Beisheim and Brenna Fosco both qualified to the NATIONAL TOPS Testing to take place in Huntsville, TX in October.  TOPs Regional testing took place throughout the summer and approximately 3,000 gymnasts participated. From those who participated, 310 gymnasts from around the country were invited to TOPs National Testing. The National Testing will be held in Huntsville, Texas, Oct. 2-4 at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center, where approximately 20 gymnasts in three age groups (9, 10 and 11) will be selected to the TOPs National Team.    Tori was a member of this prestigious National Team in 2007. 20 May, 2008 - 's Level 4 State Championships

Connor Slater, and Chance Edmonds Represented the Rochester Gymnastics Academy at the Level 4 State Championships over the past weekend.  Both had a phenomenal meet.  Connor Slater Placed 2nd in the All-Around with a score of 55.45.  He was crowned the NY State Champion on Floor and Pommel Horse, and runner up on Vault.  In the 10-11 year old age division, Chance placed 2nd in the All-Around with a score of 54.700.  He was crowned the NY State Champion on Floor and Pommel Horse, and runner up on P-Bards and High Bar.


18 May, 2008 - Level 6 Team are STATE CHAMPIONS

Rochester Gymnastics Academy hosted the 2008 Level 6 New York State Gymnastics Championships on May 17-18th. Their Level 6 girl’s team placed 1st overall in the Team Division, winning Vault, Balance Beam, and the Floor Exercise, and taking 2nd on Uneven Bars at this state-wide competition.

 In the Age 10 Division:

Tori Beisheim of Fairport and Brenna Fosco of Macedon both tied for 1st All-Around, earning the NYS Champion title. Tori also won State Champion titles on Beam with a meet high score of 9.925 and in Floor Exercise. She took 4th on Vault and 4th on the Uneven Bars. Brenna earned 2nd place in all four events.

Teammate Natalie Gurnett of Irondequoit earned 3rd All-Around, placing 3rd on Vault, Beam, and Floor Exercise. She also placed 6th on Uneven Bars.

Chloe Viniski of Fairport placed 8th All-Around, earning 4th on Beam and 5th in Vault. Katie Mansfield of Honeoye Falls placed 10th All-Around and 6th on Beam. Skylar DiBerardinis of Victor placed 4th in the Floor Exercise.

 In the Age 8-9 Division:

Bailey Stehler of Pittsford earned a NYS Champion title in the Floor Exercise. She also placed 6th All-Around and 4th on Beam. Teammate Hannah Gooding of Spencerport placed 3rd on Beam, 6th in the Floor Exercise, and 8th All-Around.

11 May, 2008 - RGA All-Stars Compete at Hershey Park

The RGA All-stars competed in the American Cheer Power Hershey Park Open on May 10, 2008.

In the Youth All-Star Level 2 competition, our Junior team placed 4th.  In the Senior AllStar Level 3, our seniors placed 3rd.


11 May, 2008 - Eddie Penev is a NATIONAL CHAMPION

Over the past few months, Eddie had to make a decision whether to compete for Bulgaria at the European championships, or to compete at the JO National Championships.  Having made the decision to test his skills against the best the US has to offer at the Level 10 Junior Olympic Championships,  he headed off the Battle creek MI.  Competing on Thursday Night, Eddie competed against Level 10 gymnasts from all over the USA, qualifying to compete on Saturday in the All-Around Finals.  On Saturday, he repeated the performance of the Previous Thursday to place 8th in the All-Around, and earn a spot on the Junior National team, as well as earn a berth at the VISA championships.  The scores from Thursday and Saturday were added together to derive the TOP 6 in each individual event.

Eddie then competed on Sunday in the Event Finals for Vault and Floor.  After all was said and done, Eddie was crowned the NATIONAL CHAMPION on Floor, and the Runner up on the Vault.

Competing in the Level 10 14-16 Year old Age Group, Joseph Hodges had an amazing meet, helping his Regional Team to Win the National Championships, and personally placing 15th in the All-Around, and 10th on the Pommel Horse and 14th on High Bar


5 May, 2008 - Bruck, Curtis Highlight Award Winners at Banquet
After receiving a full scholarship to the University of Michigan, RGA gymnast, Lindsey Bruck has been nominated as Michigan Gymnastics most valued person.


 28h April, 2008 - Level 9 and 10 Regional Championships - NATIONAL QUALIFIERS

After winning the state championships, Taline, Becca and Oni traveled to Syracuse to compete against Level 9 and 10 gymnasts from Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont at the 2008 Regional Championships.

In Level 10 JrC, Taline won the AA championships. She also placed 3rd on Vault, and first on Floor, Beam and Bars, to win the regional championships and earn herself a valuable spot on the regional team to compete in the 2008 National Championships in Orlando Florida

In Level 10 SrC Becca placed 3rd in the All Around, and was selected as 1 of 6 members of the Level 10 SrC Regional team, and will also be traveling to Orlando, FL to compete in the Nationals.

At Level 9, Oni timothy placed 5th in the regional championships, and earned herself a place on the regional team to compete at the 2008 National Championships taking place in Dayton, OH.   CONGRATULATIONS to all girls


 14th April, 2008 - RGA Men Compete at 2008 Regional Championships - NATIONAL QUALIFIERS

The RGA Men's team traveled to Leigh High Valley over the weekend to compete at the Regional Championships.

In Level 10, Joseph Hodges placed 6th AA in the 14-15 year old age group.   Eddie Penev, Placed 4th AA in the 16-18 year old age group.  Both Joseph and Eddie , to earned themselves a spot on the 2008 Region 7 Regional team to compete at the National Championships.  Andrew Grabowski, (Level 10 14-15, and Keaton Ackerman, Level6, also qualified to the 2008 National Championships, to take place in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Grant McConnaughey and Owen Houlihan represented the RGA Level 7 Team at the Men's Regional Championships.


 14th April, 2008 - Level 8 Women's Team displays excellence -  REGIONAL Qualifiers

The RGA Level 8 girls team traveled to Long Island to compete in the NY State championships. With only 5 girls, they managed to place 2nd in the state, and what is even more remarkable, is that all 5 girls were selected to represent NY state at the Regional Championships

Rachel Gurnett placed 3rd AA in the 8-11 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 8-11 year old age division.

Alyssa Dunham placed 1st AA in the 13 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division.

Brittany Blose placed 1st AA in the 14 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division.

Alex Liberti placed 2nd AA in the 14 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division.

Jessica Madigan placed 2nd AA in the 14 year old age group & made the NY State team in the 13-14 year old age division.


 29th March, 2008 - RGA Level 7 girls have successful NY state championships

RGA Level 7 girls successful at NY state championships

Morgan, Maddie, Kira, Valerie, Shelby and Stephanie did RGA very proud on Saturday at the Level 7 NY state championships held in Long Island.  In the 9 year old age division, Maddie placed 9th AA. In the 11 year old age division, Kira was crowned the NY state champion, with Valerie placing second , and Morgan taking 5th place in the AA.  Stephanie and Shelby rounded off the team, helping the girls to place 7th in the State, the highest Team finish in Upstate NY.  Congratulations to all these girls on a very successful competition and season.  We are very proud of you.

11th February, 2008 - Girls exceed expectations in Chicago

The RGA team girls exceeded expectations at the IGI invitational held in a bitterly cold Chicago.

At Level 10, Becca Ellis placed 7th AA, with Taline placing 2nd AA and placing 1st on Beam

At Level 9, Oni Placed 5th of Floor and 8th AA

At Level 8, Alex placed 1st AA and 1st on Beam. Rachel and Alyssa placed 2nd AA. Brittany Blose placed 5th AA

In Level 7, Valerie placed 2nd AA.


The Level 8 team placed 3rd.

28th January, 2008 - Boys excel in Chicago at Windycity Invitational

The boys from Rochester Gymnastics Academy (East Rochester) in Levels 5-10 competed at the Windy City Invitational at the University of Illinois – Chicago on January 11-13th, 2008.

At Level 5, Dylan Marin, 12, from Pittsford, captured third place on the pommel horse, sixth place on the parallel bars, and tenth place on the high bar, with a ninth place finish all around. Also at Level 5, Michael Leo, 11, from Perinton, earned a 9.05 on the vault for 17th place.

At Level 6, Matthew Blahyj, 9, from Webster captured eighth place all-around, placing fourth on the vault, sixth on the parallel bars, eighth on the pommel horse, and tenth on the rings. Brian Lane, 9, from Greece, earned 9.1 on the vault, tied for 28th place at Level 6. In the 10 year old division of Level 6, Scott Lazeroff, from Brighton captured third place overall, winning first place in the floor exercise, third place on the rings, eighth place on the parallel bars and high bar, and tenth place on the vault. Aaron Appelle, also from Brighton, in the 11-year old division, placed seventh on the high bar, ninth on the rings, 11th on the pommel horse, 12th on the vault and 14th on the parallel bars with an overall score that tied for 13th place. In the 12-year-old and older division of Level 6, Nathan Rosenbloom, 13, from Pittsford, placed fifth overall, capturing second place on rings and vault, fifth place on the pommel horse, and eleventh

on the floor exercise.

In Level 7, Grant McConnaughey, 12, from Pittsford, placed seventh on the pommel horse and 15th on the vault, with an all around place of 18th.

In Level 9, Keaton Ackerman, 13 from Penfield, placed 13th all around with eleventh place on the vault and parallel bars, 13th on the pommel horse, and 15th on the floor exercise. Finally, at Level 10, Joseph Hodges, 15, from Webster, earned second place all around, capturing second on the pommel horse, third on the high bar, and sixth on the rings. Brighton

7 October, 2008 - Tori to attend Camp at the NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER in Houston, TX

Over the weekend, Tori competed with 100 of the most talented 11 year old gymnasts in the country.  The national training staff tested her physical strength, endurance and flexibility, as well as a vast array of skills.  Tori was 1 of 25 that was selected to attend the National Camp in December.  At the camp, she will receive coaching and assistance from the National Team training staff.

This is the second year in a row that Tori has been placed in the top 25 in the country, and received an all expenses paid week of camp at the Karoyli's ranch in Houston, TX.
