Our pre-school program is a child's first introduction to gymnastics. Students learn to be successful and independent through a variety of activities. Students learn the basic fundamental skills of gymnastics including handstand, cartwheel, forward/backward rolls, jumping and other loco-motor/gymnastics skills. Many skills are taught through the use of mats, hoops, wedge mats and an obstacle course. At the teaching station, the skill may be modified to challenge children at various levels allowing children to experience success.
Students in these classes begin with warm-ups and then participate in the floor station, setup as an obstacle course. In addition they will participate in two other events including uneven bars, parrallel bars, balance beams, rings, trampoline, tumble track, vaulting and Foam Pit.
SO WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TINY TUMBLES AND MIN-GYMNASTS ?
Tiny-Tumblers has a smaller student/teacher ratio of 7:1.
Tiny-Tumblers is a 45 minute class, developmentally appropriate for the age group
Tiny-Tumblers teaching is paced to their developmental age and attention span.
Mini-Gymnasts is a 1 hour class with a student/teacher ration of 8:1.
Mini-Gymnasts teaching is paced to their developmental age and attention span.
Mini-Gymnasts continue to build upon and teach new skills to those acquired in the Tiny Tumbler program
Our age group program uses a progressive development, skill-based approach. Each class is divided into instructional groups. There are beginners, intermediate and advanced gymnasts in each class. We first group our classers by age as we believe that an important part of the class is to be with age appropriate peers. We then group the class by ability level. We try to individualize instruction in an effort to meet each students needs since all children learn at different rates. Each class begins with warm-ups, then there are 3 instruction activities of 20 minutes each, followed by a conditoning/choice time
We offer instruction in men and women's Olympic events and also includes trampoline, tumble-track, climbing rope and the use of the foam pit. Our age-group program is VERY important to us. We use it as the building block of our VERY successful competitive program. We do our best to offer a positive experience where students acquire gymnastics skills along with improved strength, flexibility and coordination.
At the conclusion of the school year in June, we have our Annual "Spring-Fling". This is an opportunity for pupils to show-case to their families skills they have learned throughout the year.
